Looks like a beautiful three day weekend coming up! The tide swings will be moderate and the lows are right in the middle of the afternoon. Ideal conditions for sea run Dolly fishing.
Reports from Echo Cove (particularly out at the sand spit), the Shrine of St. Terese and Fish Creek have been good. Lots of salmon fry around, nice sized Dollies and even a few sea run cutthroat.
Gastineau Channel is absolutely jam packed with salmon fry after the big DIPAC releases this week. To the point where anglers are reporting foul hooking more salmon fry than Dollies! Oddly the fishing has been spotty. We know the Dollies are in the channel, it's just a matter of finding them congregated. As the fry start to spread out a little more the fishing will definitely pick up. Keep fishing Salmon Creek, Free Candy (on Douglas directly across from Salmon Creek), any number of spots on Thane Road, Sheep Creek and Dupont.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend. If you made it out to the Community Casting Night, "Thank you!", we all had a great time. If you missed it, it was epic! Our next FREE casting class is Friday May 31 at 6pm at the shop. Please RSVP to 586-1550 to hold a spot.
See you on the water!
